iOS8 Tips

By now you have probably updated your iPad and iPhone with the latest iOS 8 update. Do you know some of the cool things you can do with it? Well let me tell you about some of them.

You can make a call from your iPad using your iPhone to initiate the call. Your iPad turns into a speakerphone. You can call any phone number you want. If you want to give this a try, you can call someone by going to your Contacts on your iPad and click on the phone icon. To answer a call all you need to do is slide to accept on the iPad. Just make sure you have your iCloud account on all the devices.

You can have an instant hotspot. You can connect to the iPhone hotspot from your other Apple devices without having to go in and turn on the hotspot every time you need it. For example, on your iPhone, under Settings turn the Personal Hotspot on. Next, go to your iPad and under WiFi settings, look for the iPhone name. Click on it and put in the password provided for the Personal Hotspot. Presto. You have a connection.

Battery usage is now available. Now you don’t have to download an app from the store to find out about your power usage. Go to Settings, General, Usage, Battery Usage. It shows you the last 24 hours and the last seven days of what apps are using the most battery life.

How about Quick Contacts? Apple added this feature which shows your most recent or favorite contacts on the multitasking menu. All you have to do is punch the home button twice to see your recent contacts. If you ever get tired of that because you accidentally hit the home button too may times you can do this. Go to Settings, scroll to Mail, Contacts, Calendars, and under Contacts, Show in App Switcher, turn it to off.

Hope you have fun with some of these iOS features and just think, you did not have to buy an iPhone 6 just yet.
