KB and LB were out having a bff day. We were talking and laughing (insert a snort or two). Kelli said, “Hey I want to show you a new place I found”. So we headed off to Gallatin Tennessee to a shop called “The Marketplace at Amberleaf”. The Marketplace, on the public square in the historic downtown area, is home to a unique store for shopping, handmade items, antiques, gifts and repurposed art. Over 40 local artists contribute to the well displayed booths with gitchy ideas of art and jewelry of all kinds.
Our first order of business was lunch. The “Ugly Pie Bakery” is located on the first floor in the back of the marketplace. The Ugly Pie is owned by Heather Watson specializing in using non-GMO, organically-grown, freshly-milled whole wheat, organic raw honey, organic extra-virgin olive oil, and fresh free-range chicken eggs from their own backyard.
Lisa B went with the homemade chicken salad sandwich served with chips pickles and pasta salad. Kelli B chose the pick two, a half sandwich and cup of tomato basil soup, which also came with chips and pickles. It was all very very good! We wanted to have dessert but we were too full. They have homemade cinnamon rolls, pies, cakes, cookies and many other goodies. Great fun atmosphere and service.
After eating we explored the upper and lower levels. We were really drawn to the unique examples of metal lettering that were on display. There were no letter “B’s” so we will definitely be checking back for them. You will not notice the time going by, so give yourselves a couple of relaxing hours to eat and explore.
We shopped till we dropped trying to see everything. We went to each booth twice and we would find things we didn’t see the first time. When you enter the store and go to the room on your right you will find a movie playing on the wall, my first trip, Breakfast at Tiffany’s was playing, such a nice treat as you shop. This is a neat and unique gem on the square in Gallatin. We left with our bags and tummy full. Grab a friend and go enjoy some unique shopping and great food!
P.S. Maybe we will see each other, we go often, so come say hi and chat!!
