We all know Nashville is known as the Music City, but did you know Nashville has a pretty cool art scene with many galleries and exhibits? My husband and I enjoy walking around downtown and looking in the galleries. We stumbled upon the “O” Gallery, the artist Olga Alexeeva. She has two galleries, Marathon Village, and The Arcade off of 4th Avenue North. As we walked through the crowd and looked around, we saw several paintings we liked, but one I fell in love with. As the crowd started to thin, someone tapped me on the shoulder and started chatting with us. It was Olga, the artist! She was so friendly and engaging. She had watched me admiring the painting, she said “you get it don’t you?” I said, “When I saw it, I told my husband, that is us sweet daddy!” She went and got a print of it, matted, framed, and signed it, writing a special note to us. If you are looking for a fun art event one of our favorites is the First Saturday Art Crawl Downtown. It is held the first Saturday of the month. The Crawl is a festive atmosphere with venues located along 5th Avenue of The Arts and upstairs in the Historic Arcade. Admission is free, and most galleries serve complimentary refreshments. The Gallery Crawl is a great free night on the town. Check it out, you’ll be so glad you did!
