No Bake Yum Yum Bars

Ok, when it gets this hot no one wants to turn on the oven. If you need a dessert for a get together, party, cook-out, or want to make a treat for your family without baking, this recipe will fit the bill. Yummy, delicious, and fun to make. Everyone will love these yum yum bars, and keep cool!

Ingredients:

1 cup granulated sugar

1 cup light-color corn syrup

2 cups creamy peanut butter

3 cups cornflakes

3 cups crisp rice cereal

3/4 cup butter

4 cups powdered sugar

2 4-serving-size vanilla instant pudding and pie- filling mix

1/4 cup milk

1 12 oz. package of semi-sweet chocolate pieces

1/2 cup butter

Directions:

Line a 15 x 10 x 1 pan with foil. Make sure the foil covers the bottom of the pan and reaches up over the edge of the pan.

This is so you can lift it out when it’s ready to cut.

Combine sugar and corn syrup in a medium sauce pan on the stove.

Stir until boiling around the edges.

Heat and stir for one more minute. Remove from heat.

Stir in peanut butter until melted. Stir in cornflakes and crisp rice cereal until coated.

Press into the bottom of the pan.

Next, make the pudding layer. In a medium sauce pan, melt the 3/4 cup butter. Add in powdered sugar, pudding mixes and milk.

Spread pudding mixture over cereal layer and set aside.

For frosting, in a small saucepan combine semi-sweet chocolate pieces and 1/2 cup butter.

Stir over low-heat until melted.

Spread frosting over pudding layer.

Cover and chill for one hour or until set.

To serve, lift foil out of pan, place on a cutting board and cut bars.
