If you live in the South Dr. Pepper is a drink you know well. 
This is a recipe combining Dr. Pepper, chocolate and cherries! Say what!! 😋 This is an easy wonderful southern tasty cake, you will fall in love with. I hope you give it a try!

Ingredients:

1 box of your favorite chocolate cake mix

1 12 oz. Dr. Pepper 

1 jar maraschino cherries cut in half and set aside. 

Cherry Icing:

1 Cup butter softened

3 Cup powdered sugar 

2 Tbs. of maraschino juice

Chocolate shavings or you can use chocolate chips. 

12 maraschino cherries drained to place on cake. 

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Spray a 9×13 pan with baking spray and set aside. 

Mix together the cake mix and Dr. Pepper until combined.

Stir in the cherries into the batter. 

Pour the cake batter into your prepared pan. 

Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.

While cake is completely cooling make your icing. 

Icing Directions:

Cream together softened butter, powdered sugar and cherry juice until combined and stiff.

Take your icing and and smooth evenly over cake. 

Sprinkle the chocolate shavings or chocolate chips onto the icing and top with cherries. 

Place in the refrigerator for 30-45 minutes to allow the icing to set up. ( you don’t have to do this but I like too.)
