Well if you know me or are Facebook friends with me you know how much I enjoy, The Chocolate Covered Strawberry Cafe, the soup, sandwiches, salads, desserts, and shopping are just perfect!
In my opinion there is know place that beats it. The decor and ambiance are wonderful. So when I read this status on their FB page I squealed!
“Facebook friends, loyal customers & soon to be patrons… The Chocolate Covered Strawberry Café is thrilled to announce that we are opening a brand new restaurant! Let me introduce you to our Brother location, Swaney Swift’s on the Square at 118 North Water Ave on the Historic Downtown Square in Gallatin. What was originally a drug store from the late 19th and well into the 20th century, will now be the home of Gallatin’s newest Bistro, Soda Fountain and Tap Room this January. For almost a decade now, “The Strawberry” has called Sumner County home and we are over the moon to offer its residents another reason to visit us. Menu details to come soon, but expect a feel good menu filled with hand crafted burgers, homespun shakes and local Brews. The perfect spot for the guys, girls, couples or bring the whole family!! Occasional live music and outdoor dining are the cherries on the sundae. We are so excited to see Swaney Swift open its doors again.”
So needless to say I was counting the days till we could visit. Sweet Daddy and I went on, Saturday January 10, the fourth day they were open.
It was great, the soda fountain counter was so neat watching people sit down and order a malt or shake was cool. The building has such great History, and seeing that it was incorporated into the decor pleased us both.
Now let’s move on to the food and service. We were greeted with a smile and welcome, we had to wait only about five minutes to be seated. Our waitress came right to our table and took our drink order, she was very sweet and attentive. We decided to split the, “Orchard Burger”, it was topped with chunky crisp apple jam, applewood smoked bacon, and cheddar cheese, which came with fries. We also ordered a side of their bacon mac and cheese. We found out that every order comes with complimentary fried pickles. Let me start by saying everything was so good, my husband loved the mac and cheese, he scraped the bowl clean. The burger was perfection, fresh hand patted angus beef, flavored just right. It takes about 15-20 minutes to get your burger but well worth the wait, no frozen fast food here. Fries and pickles were good, we had no complaints, just an empty happy plate! Make sure to leave room for dessert they have some uniquely awesome choices.
Swaney Swift’s on the Square is just what I thought it would be, a fun atmosphere with great food. Everything we would expect from the brother of The Chocolate Covered Strawberry Cafe.
It kind of reminds me of, The Pharmacy, in east Nashville. You will not be disappointed. I love seeing life on the square in Gallatin, I’m so glad we have great mom and pop restaurants in Sumner County. Buy and support local businesses. Now grab your Honey and split a shake!
