This recipe I started making when I was in College. I worked in a gourmet restaurant that was open for lunch only, we also did quite a bit of catering. One of my jobs was making desserts. This cake flew out the door, people would order a whole cake for birthdays and Holidays it was a definite favorite. I have modified it a little but the taste is in full force and it is simple and easy to make. I promise you will love it!
Golden Apple Cake
Ingredients
4 Cups of sliced Apple
1 Cup of sugar
1 Cup of Brown Sugar
2 Cups of all purpose flour
1 Stick of Butter softened
2 Eggs
1 Teaspoon of Baking Soda
1 Teaspoon of Cinnamon
1 Cup of Chopped Pecans
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease your 9×13 cake pan set aside.
Slice apples place in bowl add pour one cup of sugar over apples and mix together.
In a large bowl, cream butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla then mix together.
In separate bowl, combine flour, baking soda and cinnamon. Mix together, then gradually add dry ingredients into the creamed mixture. Pour batter over sliced apples and mix together. Pour in chopped pecans stir together. Pour mixture into your 9×13 baking pan. Bake at 350 for 35 to 45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Set aside to cool down.
Heavenly Drizzle
Ingredients:
1 stick of butter
1 cup of sugar
1/4 cup heavy whipping cream
1 teaspoon vanilla
In a saucepan, place the stick of butter and cup of sugar and melt together over medium heat. Bring to a slight boil, stirring occasionally. Stir in 1/4 cup of heavy whipping cream and lightly boil for 1 minute. Remove from heat, stir in vanilla. When serving cake, drizzle warm sauce over one slice at a time. Do not pour over entire cake. You can reheat drizzle in the microwave. Drizzle will keep in the refrigerator for five days.
