Homemade Peppermint Ice Cream

As I have mentioned in previous posts I love to experiment and make homemade ice cream, sherbets, and sorbets. Today I’m going to share my favorite peppermint ice cream recipe. It starts with King Leo peppermint sticks, which are my favorites. I love the flavor and texture, the way they melt in my mouth, to me they are perfection! Yum!

Ingredients:

1 quart of heavy whipping cream

1 pint of half and half

4 cups of whole milk

2 1/2 tablespoons of vanilla extract

2 cups of King Leo Peppermint Sticks Crushed

1 14 oz. can of condensed milk ( not evaporated)

Ice

Ice Cream Salt

Ice Cream Maker

Directions:

Makes 4 quarts.

In a gallon size pitcher pour in condensed milk and heavy whipping cream, stir well. Add half and half and stir together. Stir in vanilla, add 3/4 cup of crushed peppermint sticks and stir together. Pour in whole milk while stirring. Place lid on pitcher and refrigerate overnight.

Next day take mixture out stir well and add the remaining 1 1/4 cups of crushed peppermint sticks and stir well. Pour into ice cream cylinder, add lid and place in ice cream maker, top with motor. Layer ice and ice cream salt to the top, plug in and make ice cream. Add ice and salt as needed. When machine slows your getting close, when it stops it is ready! Remove from ice cream maker and serve. I like to crush extra Peppermint sticks to sprinkle on top. Enjoy! 😊
